THE DRUK COLLECTION
HTC-99Druk Vermilion Storm
Two large cobalt dragons coil across a vermilion field in point symmetry, their bodies looped into open rings and their pale blue heads streaming flame, among rows of small clouds, with lotus petal and cloud shapes closing the top and bottom edges. Vermilion is the colour of temple pillars and doors in the Himalaya, the threshold that is guarded, and the dragons filling the field are the guards. Their looped bodies are how the druk is drawn gathering a storm, coil upon coil of cloud with the flame at the mouth that is lightning. A threshold piece: an entrance hall, a formal hallway, the front of a shop.
