Gyatum — Chestnut

A chestnut brown field with the whole drawing worked in wheat and cream: an oval medallion, a vase above and below, and scrolling corner brackets inside a matching gold border. With no colour to read, the drawing is read through light, the treasure vases and lotus seat glowing pale against earth brown the way gilded images glow against a dark shrine wall. Brown is the earth, the element that steadies, which makes this one for a study, a bedroom or a shrine room.
