Palbeu Indigo

A deep navy field with a small garlanded fret roundel in gold and blue at the centre, eight sprays of flowers and small fruit set round it, a vine in each corner, and a cream band of flowering vine with gold and blue blossoms at the edge. The garlanded roundel is the seat and the eight sprays are set round it in the eight directions, the plan of an eight petalled lotus. Navy is the blue of the Medicine Buddha and of the night sky, so the gold peonies and pale lotus read as lamps lit in it, while the small fruit among the flowers is the ripening, what was wished for coming to harvest. The calmest of the navy pieces, for a study, a bedroom or a prayer corner.
