Specifying Rugs for Hospitality: Lessons from the Project Floor
Tsultrim Design Studio · August 30, 2026

Hospitality specification is unforgiving in ways residential work rarely is: rolling luggage, high foot traffic, and daily housekeeping all shorten a carpet's working life if density and pile height aren't matched to the space. For lobbies, we typically recommend 80–100 KPSI in a lower, denser pile; for suites and lounges, a taller pile at 60–80 KPSI reads more luxurious underfoot without sacrificing durability.
Custom sizing to the exact millimeter also matters more in hospitality, where a carpet is built into a fixed architectural footprint rather than placed loosely in a room.
