Palbeu Sand

An almost bare camel field carries one dark blue endless knot in a round cloud frame at the centre, with scrollwork corner pieces and a gold band of small repeating motifs between two navy bands of petal shapes. The whole rug is one symbol: the palbeu, a line with no beginning and no end, standing for dependent origination, nothing arising on its own. Set alone on a bare field inside a ring of cloud, it is given the same space a shrine gives an object. In a household an unbroken knot is read as a wish for relationships that do not break, which makes it a piece to give a couple, and the bare field is the most forgiving here to furnish around.
